My first Tailgate party

Okay, hard to believe at 41 I had never been to a tailgate party. This is a BBQ done at the parking lot of a stadium, before the game starts. So we were to attend the Charger game, our hometown football team. GO CHARGERS! and my sweetie husband said we should have a tailgate before the game, so the kids could be part of something so traditional and so fun. And I have to admit it was certainly fun. We are Hispanic as you well know, so we had a Delicious carne asada with guacamole, tortillas, salsa and some drinks and beer. It turned out so great! I enjoyed it a lot and I can't wait for another one in the near future. The kids also enjoyed it! Thanks to Daddy for suggesting it. Fun times!

That sounds like a lot of fun. Believe it or not, I was a student at a university for six years and never once went to a tailgate party or a game. I should be ashamed. Now I want hot dogs on the grill.

Cherry,
carne asada is a Mexican food and so is guacamole. By now you all know I'm of Mexican descent, but I have lived in the United States all my life. I still hold on to my culture and pass it on to my children, even though some of them don't speak spanish (the boys).
Carne Asada is just a thin cut of beef and it is seasoned and then grilled. The guacamole is made from Avocados, and they are smashed in a bowl, we add some chopped tomato and cilantro (cilantro is a mexican herb, a little bit like parsley) we mix it all together and season it with salt. It tastes very good together, and then we put all this in a warm Tortilla. For Mexicans, the tortilla is like bread would be in other cultures, we eat them a lot and with most of our meals.

Cherry, my daughter and I love Bollywood movies, like I had told you before. So we have tried to make Indian food once before. We made a delicious chicken and my daughter made some really yummy paranthas, I didn't know what else to accompany this with so I bought a box of cous cous. But I want to ask you if you can recommend something easy for us to make. I don't like very spicy food. Are there any suggestions? I can look up the recipes on the internet.
We are big fans of SRK. Is he big in India? we love the roles he has played, such as Devdas, Om Shanti Om, and other movies I can't remember the title of.

Patricia,
Great to hear from you. When I was in Seattle, I did get a chance to have Mexican food...the tortillas and food with cilantro...I love your culture. To accompany parathas you can have Butter chicken curry or Kadai panneer...you may use half the spices they have mentioned and still it will turn out to be good....
Please see http://www.indiavisitinformation.com/indian-recipe/veg/Paneer/Kadai-Paneer.shtml and http://www.syvum.com/cgi/online/serve.cgi/recipes/inc/nrcpc4.tdf?0...

Your welcome Cherry, I'm glad to be following your blog. I love to read your work. And it's nice to know someone in another part of the world. To see that we are all different but somehow we are all alike. Have a great day.

Another one of our favorites is of course Amitabh Bachan.........I know I probably didn't spell that right. He is also very good. We have enjoyed many of his movies. And from the women, we love Rani. She's so cute, and her acting is always the best.

I had just mentioned about Amitabh in the previous post...nice to know that you have already seen his movies...another great actor is Aamir Khan....there are other great actors and movies too..in different Indian languages...that's what makes Indian movies so rich and diverse...
